But coming to the news, the Narendra Modi government is likely to abandon the formation of the 8th Pay Commission. It is speculated that the Central Government may bring in a new system in place of the 8th Pay Commission. This has also been pointed by way of the Union Minister’s statement. Meanwhile, however, the employees have been saying that with the formation of the 8th Pay Commission a lot would be expected in lieu of the new pay structure for employees. According to employee organizations, the Center has a different plan on the salary revision process. Rather than the Pay Commission, the entire system would be thrown open and revamped by the adoption of a suitable national policy. Shiv Gopal Mishra, Secretary, Staff Side National Council, has said that it is probable that the government might ultimately think of making a new arrangement in place of the Pay Commission (which system, could be, on the lines of pay commission replacement).
When did the 7th Pay Commission come into effect?
The Central Government implemented the 7th Pay Commission in January 2016. From history, it can be predicted that the Central Government usually forms a new Pay Commission once in 10 years that means “nye vetan ayog ka gathan kab hoga” So, there are hopes that maybe the government will implement this new pay commission from January 2026. Following this, the employees are likely going to enjoy benefits.

Recently, the Union Finance Ministry issued a statement for central government employees and pensioners saying that the government has no consideration for the 8th Central Pay Commission. Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary clarified that there is no proposal to initiate the process for the next pay commission. However, this may be considered in future.
